Tai Chi Chuan (Taijiquan) -
in Newcastle upon Tyne and North Tyneside.
Tai Chi Chuan is a great martial art & self defence system but it is equally good for
developing your health and well being. Training is focused on developing good posture, root and relaxation and is
classified as soft or internal martial art. We focus on the most popular and famous Yang Style Tai Chi and
also add additional material that we have acquired on our journey through the
internal arts. You will be taught form, qi gong and pushing hand
skills from your first lesson and once a basic skill has been developed the fighting applications will be shown to those who are interested in that aspect.
"One of the Academy's tai chi inspirations - Master Ou Rong Ji"

An average class will start with warm up and loosening exercises and then progress to qigong, standing post
meditation breathing or forms practice. Usually the last part of the class is devoted to partner practice, weapons and additional material such as
Circle Walking.
The academy's Tai Chi has been passed from Sifu Derek Frearson (ITSWA)
and his teachers. Our training follows the traditional pattern and
we are one of the few groups in Newcastle Upon Tyne teaching
authentic Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan as descended from Yang Cheng
Fu.
Core forms and the order they are normally taught are, 24 step Yang Style, 32 Step Sword, Yang Long Form, Tai Chi Fan, 10 Step Wu Style Hong Kong Form, Tai Chi Broadsword, 42 Step Combined Form, Yang Style Staff/Spear, Yang Style Tai Chi Sword
